Tivat's tiny Adriatic airport, wedged between the mountains and the Bay of Kotor, is not a place you'll find nonstop service from Texas — and after years of routing clients and myself through this corridor, I can say the reality of business class from San Antonio to Tivat always involves at least one, often two, connections, with total journey time stretching to roughly 11.5 hours of actual flying once you factor in the transatlantic hop and a shorter European leg. The most reliable itinerary structure runs through Frankfurt or Munich on Lufthansa, which now increasingly features the new Allegris business class on select long-haul aircraft, offering closed suites with sliding doors on certain configurations — though it's worth checking your specific aircraft, since not all Allegris cabins are identical. Turkish Airlines via Istanbul is my other go-to recommendation, particularly because IST has become a genuinely excellent connecting hub with a dedicated business lounge that rivals anything in Europe, and Turkish's onward flight down to Tivat (seasonal, so check timing) keeps the whole itinerary on one ticket.
Croatia Airlines (OU) rarely factors into the long-haul leg but often appears on the final short hop from Zagreb or another Adriatic gateway, and their business class, while modest compared to the widebody carriers, is perfectly comfortable for a sub-two-hour sector. My insider tip: build in at least a two-hour connection window at Istanbul or Frankfurt, because immigration and security lines for onward Balkan flights can be unpredictable, and missing that last leg into Tivat often means an overnight stranded in a bigger hub with no same-day rebooking options given how few daily flights actually serve TIV.
Seasonality matters enormously here — April, May, September, and October are the sweet spot, both for fares and for avoiding the July-August Montenegrin coastal crush when every seat into Tivat is claimed by yacht owners and their entourages weeks in advance. Given how thin capacity is on this route and how quickly premium cabins sell down during shoulder season, I'd strongly encourage setting up automated fare alerts rather than checking manually, since the best Lufthansa and Turkish business fares on this itinerary tend to surface briefly and disappear fast.
